Ford Figo 2018: Top Biggest updates you didn’t know

Ford is readying the all-new Ford Figo 2018 variant for the Indian market. Read on to know the latest and biggest updates you didn’t know about this upcoming hatchback.

The Figo hatchback is one of the most popular cars by Ford in the Indian automobile market. This car had been launched with much expectation to earn a strong position and good market share in the hatchback segment, which is mainly dominated by Maruti Suzuki. However, with some of the toughest rivals in the segment, Ford Figo failed to achieve the success it always desired for.

In spite of the decreasing sales and lower demand, Ford never gave up and continued its hard work on this hatchback. And now, after a big and vibrant launch of EcoSport facelift, Ford is readying the all-new 2018 Ford Figo for the Indian market. The current variant of Ford Figo hatchback was launched in 2015, and it needed a major update if it really wanted to be in the competition.

In last few months, several news reports have emerged on the internet with leaked images and spy shots of the camouflage avatar of the 2018 Ford Figo. The company officials have been spending great time on the testing units to ensure that this time the Figo beats all its rivals with a huge impact on their market share as well.

Let’s have a quick look at some of the biggest updates on 2018 Ford Figo you didn’t know.

Redesigned Front & Rear

Thanks to the spy shots of the test mules of 2018 Ford Figo, it has been confirmed that this upcoming hatch is going to have completely redesigned front and rear. It is going to have a new bold mesh grille, which will replace the chrome slats on the current 2015 model. This brand new mesh grille looks inspired from the 2018 Mustang, which makes Figo look bold and beautiful.

Other than this, we can also see new redesigned bumpers, blacked out headlamps, revised tail lamps, updated rear bumpers and new alloy wheels as well. Going with the current trends, Ford may also add projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights and LED fog lamps on the 2018 Figo hatchback as well.

Premium Interiors

The 2018 Ford Figo hatchback is going to have updated interiors with all-new dashboard design, new seat upholstery, updated interior colors, and new features and most importantly, the quality of plastics used is expected to improve a lot to enhance the premiumness on the inside.

Ford may add a touch screen infotainment system from the facelifted EcoSport that supports in-built navigation system, SYNC3 AppLink with voice control, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The high-end variants may get automatic climate control, rear AC vents, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlight on/off, reverse parking sensors and camera, MyFord Dock, steering mounted controls, ABS with EBD, power-operated wing mirrors, 6-airbag and more techy safety and convenience features.

New Engines

The biggest update on the 2018 Ford Figo expected is the introduction of new Dragon Series Engines, which we recently saw on the facelifted EcoSport. According to Autoportal.com, the 2018 Ford Figo will be available with three engine options – the existing 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine, 1.5-litre 3-cylinder Dragon petrol engine and the 1.2-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine. The power output can’t be predicted right now as we are not sure how Ford is going to use these engines and their power for the hatchback.

Expected Price Tag & Launch Date in India

The 2018 Ford Figo is expected to be launched with a price tag between Rs.5 lacs to 8 lacs (Ex-Showroom, Delhi) in the first quarter of 2018. It may also be showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo as well.
